Training

NOW Subsea provides comprehensive training programs for teams working with Autonomous Maritime Systems, including AUVs, ASVs, and ROVs. Our goal is to prepare your personnel to operate safely, effectively, and with confidence in real marine environments. Drawing on our experience as Western Canada’s trusted commercial operator, we deliver practical instruction built on methods that have been proven through years of offshore operations.

Our training covers the full operational cycle, from planning and preparation through mobilization, mission execution, data collection, and post mission analysis. We focus on simplifying the complexities of autonomous systems at sea so that your team can work efficiently and make informed decisions during every phase of the mission.

Each program is tailored to the specific equipment and objectives of your project. Whether you are building a new team, advancing existing capabilities, or integrating new technologies, NOW Subsea provides the knowledge and structure required to strengthen your operational readiness. Our instruction emphasizes safety, teamwork, and proper planning, ensuring that your program achieves reliable launch to recovery performance and long term operational success.

Integration

NOW Subsea provides complete integration support for clients seeking to expand or upgrade the capabilities of their marine platforms. Our team draws on extensive experience from commercial AUV, ASV, and ROV operations to ensure that new sensors and systems are incorporated smoothly and function reliably in real world environments. We help bridge the gap between engineering design and offshore performance by applying practical methods proven through years of field work.

Our integration services cover a wide range of ocean sensing technologies, including multibeam echosounders, side scan sonar, sub bottom profilers, magnetometers, and other commonly used instruments. When standard equipment does not meet your mission needs, we also support the integration of custom or emerging technologies to provide specialized capability.

NOW Subsea manages the full process, from initial planning and interface definition to physical integration, testing, and iterative sea trials. We work directly with manufacturers to ensure your requirements are understood and met, and we assist with data standardization, workflow development, and operational validation so that each component performs as intended.

Whether you are upgrading an existing platform or developing a new capability, our approach ensures that every system works together effectively and reliably in demanding marine environments. NOW Subsea delivers practical, field tested integration solutions that strengthen your operational capability and enhance mission success.

System Design

NOW Subsea provides comprehensive system design services for marine and subsea technologies, supporting clients from initial concept through to operational readiness. Our approach emphasizes safety, efficiency, practicality, commercial viability, positioning performance, and data quality. These priorities ensure that every system we design is reliable, maintainable, and suited to real marine environments rather than just theoretical conditions.

Our team brings extensive experience gained from designing and operating equipment in some of the harshest offshore and subsea settings. This background allows us to apply proven methods and design principles that give clients confidence their systems will perform as expected once deployed. We understand the unique constraints of ocean operations and build solutions that account for physical integration, hydrodynamics, power management, survivability, and mission specific requirements.

NOW Subsea’s capabilities include the miniaturization of ocean observation instruments, low power and pressure rated designs, PCB layout and firmware development, and the redesign of obsolete components to extend the life of legacy platforms. We support both new system development and iterative improvement of existing platforms, ensuring that each design aligns with practical deployment needs and industry best practices.

Whether you are building a prototype, refining a commercial product, or modernizing an established system, NOW Subsea delivers design solutions grounded in real operational experience. Our goal is to create equipment that is robust, user friendly, and ready to succeed in demanding marine conditions.

Offshore Support

NOW Subsea provides dependable offshore support to assist clients during active marine operations. Our team members bring hands-on experience from commercial AUV, ASV, and ROV projects and are prepared to support system integration, data collection, troubleshooting, and mission execution in demanding field environments.

We work across a range of sectors including offshore wind, oil and gas, marine research, and mineral exploration. Whether you require short term technical assistance or additional operational capacity for a full campaign, NOW Subsea delivers reliable personnel who understand the practical realities of offshore work and ensure your project proceeds smoothly.

Project SKIPPER

Project SKIPPER is an ongoing passion project led by a team of collaborators from Canada’s West Coast who share a deep commitment to protecting marine life and improving the way we interact with the ocean. Drawing on extensive experience in the regional maritime industry, the team is working to create practical tools that enhance situational awareness and support the safety of cetaceans in busy coastal waters.

The project brings together multiple sensing and analytical approaches, combining acoustic monitoring, thermal detection, AIS data, and advanced AI algorithms to identify and track whale presence in real time. By integrating these technologies into a cohesive system, Project SKIPPER aims to give mariners timely information that can reduce vessel strike risk and support responsible navigation practices.

Collaboration is central to the project. The team is actively engaged with local and regional groups, researchers, and regulatory bodies to ensure that the system aligns with scientific knowledge, operational realities, and conservation priorities. The goal is not only to develop effective technology, but to contribute meaningfully to the continued protection and stewardship of our cetacean populations.

Project SKIPPER reflects the belief that innovation and responsibility must go hand in hand. Through focused effort, technical expertise, and a shared sense of purpose, the team is working to make a measurable difference in the waters off Canada’s West Coast.
